  • Hello again Don!

As Jane mentioned in responding to your Crowe query, we need to have more specifics on your Lalor/Lawlers who left Ireland in order to try to assist you in locating where they may have originated. Do you have the name of the Lalor/Lawler who left Ireland, approximate year of birth, parents names and names of any siblings?

  • Greetings, Don,  My paternal great aunt, Ellen Duff married Myles/Miles Lawlor Nov 2, 1937 in the Parish of Raheen, near Mountrath, Laois.  He gave an address of 'Portlaoishire'.  I have only heard of Portlaoise.  His occupation was listed as Tradesman.  Myles and Ellen moved to England sometime after their marriage.  My father visited them while he was stationed there during WW II.  Dad is recovering from surgery right now, but I will ask him if he recalls where in England they lived when he is feeling better. I looked on the free site irishgenealogy.ie for Myles birth record.  If it's the same person, and I believe it is, he was born Sep14, 1908 in or near Mountrath to Jeremiah and Kate Connolly Lawlor.  Mr. Lawlor was a carpenter; perhaps Myles followed his father's trade.  His name on the birth record is Miles Joseph Lawlor.  Witnesses at their marriage were Kathleen Lalor, Catherine Grant - Ellen's cousin or aunt, and Edward Mullally sp?  I don't believe Myles and Ellen had children.  Ellen was born Oct 21, 1895, so was nearing the end of her childbearing years when she married.  It was a first marriage for both.  Ellen died in England in 1954, and Myles apparently died before her.  If I come across anything else, I will let you know.

A little more information, Don:  My 2nd great uncle, Edward Duff, born 1848 married Anne Morris, daughter of Peter and Mary Lalor Morris, on 25 January 1881.  Anne's place of Residemce was listed as Clonkeen.  There were two places listed for the marriage location - Cappinrush, Laois and Ballyfin, Laois.  Witnesses were Laurence Mulhall, a relative of the groom, and Bridget Keenan.  Peter Morris was listed as deeased at the time of Anne's and Edward"s marriage.  Peter Morrsis occupation was listed as laborer.

i have no further information on Anne's parents.  I wasn't able to locate a birth or Baptismal record for her.  Sharon Dolan
