Hoping to connect with anyone connected to the Moore and/or Ford families living in Mountrath/Dysartbeagh area in the first quarter of th 19th century. My ancestor, Dennis Moore (b. ~1814) married Bridget Law (cannot locate her birth details). Denis' father was Fenton Moore who was a butcher.
Denis joined the Ordnance Survey around 1839 and began moving around the UK. He had a brother named Anthony.
Wondering if there are locally held resources....dusty old books and records...not available online. I'm in the US and have been combing the online records for years. I believe I've exhausted all online resources and need to dig deeper. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Brenda

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QPBY-MC1N 1901 census for Fintan Moore household for Ballyfin, Queen's county. Ballyfin is close to Mountrath and Queens county is County Laois. The record shows the father and son are called Fintan which seems to be a traditional name in the family. I wonder if there is a connection?

Thanks Patricia. I had found that one. Thrown off by "address given as the parish of Clonany" but assuming it is Clonenagh.
Thanks to you too Eileen. I think they are definitely connected somehow.
Do you two know if there are any newspapers in Mountrath for that period of time? Also, are there local libraries in the area that might have records not yet available online?
