My gt gt gt grandparents were Anna Bloomer and James Brophy married Castletown 1807.
Their daughter Eliza my gt gt grandmother married Patrick Delany and they had 5 children. Mary-Ann 1840, Patrick 1842, James 1845, Judy (Johanna) 1846, and John 1850. John was born in N ockacollar, the others in Castletown itself. Mary Ann emigrated to New Zealand in 1862 as a G over ness. The other siblings came out together in 1867 and all. Lived near Oamaru New Zealand until around 1870. I have traced their lives and found their graves throughout New Zealand. Only James and J ohanna produced children and I am a gt granddaughter of Judy (Johanna). I am also in email contact with a gt grandson of James. T heir mother Elizabeth Delany (neeBrophy) died in Oamaru nz In 1876 and is buried there alongside her son in law dr michael Sherlock gleeson, maryann's 1st husband. I have been unable to find Patrick Delany's death in nz bmd and have good reason to believe he died in Castletown Ireland before 1869 but cannot find any record of him. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has an interest in the wider Delany Brophy family in the vicinity to exchange notes. I know there were brothers/cousins in the area when they left especially at Knockacollar. I would also like to trace any links to the B loomer side of the family. All members were Roman Catholic.

Hello Eileen,
I have been in contact with some people in Co. Laois and the pointers I got were the following:
Would suggest that the enquirer contact Castletown (or maybe Mountrath) parish secretary.

http://www.ossory.ie/parishes-and-people/diocesan-database/parish-details/?page=ddb_parish_details&parishID=5 for Castletown.
