Cooke Family

Thanks for the compliment. The local Tidy Towns volunteers work very hard every year to keep the village neat and tidy for everyone’s enjoyment.

I have emailed you, the information that we have sourced on the Cooke family so far. Hopefully this corresponds with the information you already have. There are some differences with the dates; however that is to be expected with old records of this type. I have intentionally left the production (if required) of a family tree diagram alone as I feel this is a very personal undertaking and should be completed by the family members first.

As mentioned in my email we would be grateful to receive copies of old family/Chicago town photos and any other official documents like ship passengers records etc. you wish to share.

This is indeed my family!  I have more information that I will email shortly.  Is the project interested in something like a will?  I have James Cooke's will dated 1894 that was probated in Chicago.  I don't have that much information on him, but will send what I have.

Yes  i consider the will (or general parts) of James Cooke a good document. Not quite sure how it could be used yet,but we can talk about that later.

I have been tracing the Fogarty/Walsh line back. My great great grandmother was Catherine Cooke, who married James Walsh in the early 1800s. I have little information on her, other than the names of her children, but do have a lot on the geneaology of a daughter, Johanna Walsh, to the present day.

In the 1800s, the Cooke, Walsh and Fogarty families were closely connected in Limerick.

My information is on ancestry.com under the "Thomas - Fogarty" Family Tree.

I would appreciate any information that you might have on Catherine Cooke and perhaps her forebears.

I will look through my notes on the Cooke’s so far and see what we can find for you.

Knockainey Community Council has a community office operating here, and we are engaged in researching those who left Knockainey over the years.

Anyway, we are aiming to invite the descendants of those who left here back for a Week of Welcomes in late June 2012. We are doing so as part of a national project called Ireland Reaching Out. so please register with Knockainey parish http://www.irelandxo.com/group/knockainey-limerick on www.irelandxo.com, and, you can also post your query there about your ancestors.

.hi Marsha,for all its worth ,I believe ancestors came from Bottomstown Kockainy from the farm of Thomas and Nan Cooke,Thomas died last year at a ripe old age.my great great grandfather came out to Australia and built the White Hart Hotel at Pyalong Victoria australia.He went back to Ireland and the story goes that some part of the family had taken some of his land that I believe that caused a rift for many years.Patricks son was Richard,his was John,his was Robert then me.The original house is still in the family hope this may be of interest
