Hello,

My GGrandfather is Charles Patrick Matthews. I have his birth as anywhere from 1861 to 1864. I believe he is from Meath as when he was in Boston he became president of one of the Irish county groups called Kinghts and Ladies of Tara. From there I searched for my gg to be from Meath.  I found a Boston wedding anouncement in 1891 stating that my GG maried Catherine Gately from Roscommon and my GGgrandparents names were Robert and Bridget. Nothing has been verified but I am lost as to where else I should go to find my heritage.

Please help

Thank You

Pauline Matthews

I went to a pay site www.rootsireland.ie and looked for index records for Charles Matthews born around 1860. Eight index records came up for the years 1857-1866 but none for Meath. Even though he was involved with the Tara organization may not mean he is from Co. Meath. I also looked for Gatelys in the 1901 census in Co. Roscommon. There were no Roberts but a few Bridget Gatelys who were widows. The URL is www.nationalarchives.ie
