Hi, Im looking for information regarding Patrick Martin my GG grand gather.(Family search) Born c 1840 in Meath, married to Mary Fagan c1860.They had at least two children Sylvester and Patrick. They were baptised in Ratoath, Meath. They may have lived in Milltown and later Donaghmore (Census) I found this record in the 1821 census,90% sure its Patricks parents and granddad. If someone could verify it, i would be grateful. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1821/Meath/Donaghmore/Donaghmore/52/ .
1901 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Meath/Donaghmore/Donaghmore/1611592/
The name Patrick is used several times by Sylvester and Patrick who both named their sons Patrick and lived in Donaghmore.

Phil:
Clare Doyle asked me to take a look at your message. At this point although it looks promising, I can't assure you that the 1821 census Martin family is connected to the 1901 census family. Not sure what other research you have accomplished. I looked at the 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ratoath and Donaghmore civil parishes. There is no Patrick Martin listed in either parish. Maybe the younger Patrick had died by 1854. There is a Catherine Martin in Milltown.but no Martin in Donaghmore. It appears that Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie has RC records for the Ratoath parish and also Navan parish. I did find an 1856 marriage of a Martin to a Fagan but the first name was not Patrick. Just so you know, Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.
I found the 1867 civil birth index record for Sylvester. Not sure if you have his civil birth record which would show his parents names and where they were living.. You can get a copy of the record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. If you want to get a copy, let me know and I will forward instructions.
Let me know if you have more info. I'll be glad to continue to assist.

Hi Roger,
Many thanks for your research,i will ask for a copy from the GRO it seems the only way to find out for certain.Would it be possible for John or Nicholas born c1820 (1821 census) to be Patricks father born c1838 ? As Mary their mother would have been in her late 30s when Patrick (1838) was born.
Best Regards.
Phil.

Phil:
Yes, they would have been 18-20 and so it would be possible.
