Previously posted but new information. Looking for birth information on Mary Anne Burward (Gertrude could be a middle name as well)...born abt. 1853 Banagher. Son Michael Cornelius Heenan was in Leinster regiment, died in WW1. Mary lived and married in India (to Michael Mark Heenan). Thank you.

previous thread for reference
I'm not seeing any Burward references in Ireland around the 1850s - checked various source including Griffith's Valuation, Tithe Applotments, and civil marriage records between 1845 and 1865. The closest matches are to a couiple of Burwood deaths in the 1880s. The one reference to the surname Burward in civil records that I found is as mother's maiden surname on a birth in 1928 and one Catholic baptism in Co. Sligo in 1846 indexed as Margaret Burward, although the surname is unclear in the image, and may be an error.
Do you know what denomination your Burward family were, or any details of Mary Anne's father ?
The town of Banagher is in the civil and Church of Ireland parish of Reynagh, and records for this parish go back to 1807, but these do not seem to be available online at the moment.

Thank you Shanew147 for all your efforts! I believe Mary Burward was catholic. I do not have any information on her parents' names and that is why I was hoping to find a birth notice which included that. Mary Burward was married in India to a Michael Mark Heenan in 1873 and in the India register her maiden name is listed as Bernard. I have taken the name Burward from an old piece of paper with notations by a now deceased family member, so not sure if this person made the mistake of printing Burward or the India notation was transcribed incorrectly as Bernard. An annoying mystery!! Karen J.
