My maternal great grandparents were Charles and Susan HASSELL. I believe that Charles arrived as a gardener to Durrow Abbey from Leicester
Any information relevant to other family events would bemost welcome..

Thank you, Margot.... Now I am beginning to have doubts.... my grandfather was George Hassell, RIC Inspector of Munitions..... he had a brother (or first cousin) Frederick Charles Hassell who was Head of Customs & Excise in 1940.
Must keep on looking for clues.
