Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and found the baptismal record for Thomas in the Lemanaghan RC parish just to the north of Ferbane. See below The civil birth record foiund on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie shows he was born on October 25, 1864 and the family lived in Leabeg townland which is in Lemanaghan civil parish.

Hi Roger. Thank you for this. It is John that I am really looking for. The link to Galvin has been given to me by others at Ireland XO; but I am beginning to think that he was from a different mother. Army records for John William Andrson say he was from Banagher, born 22nd May 1859; his father William Anderson a farmer on his marriage certificate, wed to Alice Knight.
Would be grateful for any further help but must try and get over next year to visit.
Kind regards. Steven Michael Anderson

I went back and searched for John Anderson with father William and the only record was for an older brother to Thomas Anderson. Same parents William Andersona and Johann Galvan.

Hi Roger
Thank you. Is there any more you can tell me about this record or a link to it?
John was married to Alice Knight in 1885 in Farnham, England; and he is given as American; so guessing he emigrated to the USA sometime around the 1870's.

Here is the link to the actual record on the Lemanaghan parish register. The records are in Latin but if you look on the bottom right side for June 25, the second record is for John Anderson with parents William Anderson and Catherine Galvan. Joannem is John and Gulielmi is William.
Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi. Roger.
John William Anderson
Thank you again for all your help. I will have to double check everything. I was given Jane or Johanna as his mother's name, and date of birth from his army records as 22nd May 1859.
Kind regards.

You may like this record from 1856 https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632366#page/7/mode/1up Bottom right.
Same church, same father's name and same son's name but this time Johanna.

Hi Roger. Thank you for your time and patience. From his Army number I know that John was born 1856 , Banagher, Kings County. So I am going with the christening in 1856, in Ballinahown and mother Johanna. This probably means that the Thomas, 1864, 0603 Ferbane, Kings, with mother Jane Galvin, is likely to be his younger brother. There is a baptism record for him on Nov 1st 1864 mother Johan Galvan. I have loaded all into familysearch.org and will seee what comes up.
Thanks again and best wishes
Kind regards

Hi Roger. Just wondering how you are and if you are still volunteering with Ireland XO.?
I had been hoping to come over, but what with covid, weddings, and family funerals, and me needing a new hip it sadly has just has not happened yet! But definitely still on the cards now for next year.
Just wondering if you are able to look again at any records and clarify for me if it is Johann, or Jane; Galvan or Galvin. my latin was never very good so any translation you can do would be very much appreciated. I am suspicious that John and Thomas may be from different families; but have included both of them in my tree on Ancestry.com hoping it might throw up something. I have copy of John Williams wedding certificate, and his father is given as Farmer. So either just a tenant or land owner.....in the Kings/Offaly area.
KInd regards and look forward to hearing from you again.
