Hi my g grandfather was
George Francis Despard
Birth 1843 • Portarlington, Queen's Co Laois, Ireland
Death 8 MAR 1916 • 12 Burmah Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ireland

Married to:
Susan Smith
Birth ABT 1844
Death 22 NOV 1898 • 8 Windsor Terrace, Lisburn Road, Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ireland

I have his marriage certificate and on it it states that Edward Despard (farmer) is his father.
I cannot find any evidence of an Edward that fits.
Any ideas?
They were Chuch of Ireland so not in RC Parish records.

All their 5 children were born in the late 1870's in:

 Mountmellick, Queens County, (Laois) Ireland

    With a quick search . . . of Tithes Applotment (1823 -1837 )  . . it appears that . . Edward Despard . . does NOT appear as a landowner then . . BUT . . 

    when I search . . " Griffiths Valuations " ( 1847 - 1863 ) . . he appears . . on Lands

    Queens Co. (Laoise) . . Tinnahinch . . Mountmellick . . Parish of Offerlane . . Townsland . . Caher
