Hi,

I am looking any information about my ggg Grandparents John Brazil and Winifred Corcoran who married in Rahan in 1838,they had 2 children there Joseph about 1839 and Mary 1840 before moving over to England.

The problem I have is that on the Ireland site that has microfiche of the original parish registers they have listed Joseph as being born in 1823 which is obviously a mistake as his parents were not married and too young at that time to have children, also I cannot find a listing for Joseph in the microfiche for 1823,meaning a mistake although there must be a listing somewhere in the registers as the parents are listed correctly as John brazil and W. Corcoran.

According to the English census Joseph is born in 1839 and is consistent with this, I would like to find this as Joseph is my gg Grandfather and it would possibly give the names of any sponsors which may help further in my research.

When they move to England Johns mother Mary comes with him and she is a widow, the only Mary I can find marrying in Rahan is a Mary Daly and a James Brazil in 1813 but again this does not appear in the microfiche for that year. Also would that mean that John has not named his first born son (or any of his other sons) after his father,is this usual?

Is there anyone who could check the original registers?

I would appreciate any help, thanks for reading this,

Regards,

B.Martin
