Searching for relations of Bridget Flynn nee Lally.  Bridget was born in C 1810 in Moystown, Kings Co to father John Lally & mother Mary O'Rourke. When she was 19 she married Thomas Flynn somewhere in Galway????  She had 9 children most of whom were born near Clonfert Co Galway and at least one in Banagher Co Offaly.  She probably lived beside the Shannon river in Reask, Galway ( according to the Griffiths Valuation).  Bridget's family migrated to USA & Australia, including Bridget herself in 1871 to Australia. I know the whereabouts of all her descendants but not her husband Thomas Flynn or her siblings, parents etc

    In the meantime, did you know that civil registration began in Ireland in 1864? This means that if Thomas or any of Bridget?s family members died after this year you should be able to find record of it in civil records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

    It will be difficult to find records without more information, however you can search the indexes to these records up until 1958 online at: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347 so hopefully you may be able to find something there.

     

    Have you tried looking into the 1901/1911 census records to see if there were any Lally?s or Flynn?s in the areas mentioned at the time? These are available online at:

  • Hi, 

    I would love to know if I am related to this Lally family or not. My Lally ancestors lived 10-15 miles north of Moystown, towards Athlone, in the the mid to late 1800's before my great grandfather's family moved to Athlone town in about 1904. 

    Are you descended from Thomas Flynn & Bridget Lally yourself?
