Thomas CARROLL born about 1818 (Ireland) married Mary MACKEY/MACKIE/MAKIN etc about 1837 Ireland. By 1843 they were in New South Wales Australia and may have arrived via Tasmania Australia with Mary on board the Mexborough which sailed from Dublin arriving Hobart 26 December 1841 and Thomas arriving Hobart January 1842 on board Prince Regent (2). Both of these vessels were convict ships but both Mary and Thomas Carroll were "steerage" passengers. In 1866 their eldest son James CARROLL spent time in gaol and each records mentions the following - Arrived - Prince Regent in 1841, On arrival - free, On entering gaol - free, Born - Holycross County Tipperary Ireland, Religion - Roman Catholic. I have checked rootsireland for a possible marriage for Thomas and Mary CARROLL and birth/baptism for James CARROLL without success.
Any help with locating birth for James Carroll or marriage of Thomas Carroll and Mary Mackey/Mackie/Makin would be appreciated.

Hi Linceey,
Thanks for your message. You can use the Irish TImes website to see what records are available for the parish:
It may be an idea to write to the local parish priest for some assistance if you have not had any success online. Here is a link to their contacts page:
