I am searching for my ancesters from Co Tyrone. They came from Liscloon Lower. My Ggrandfathrt was John Taggart born June 1851 to Francis Taggart and Mary Anne Brisland. They were married 12 Feb 1833 in Cumber Upper Church of Ireland. Francis is listed on the marriage record coming from Liscloon, Donaghedy. Mary is listed as coming from Ballycallaghan. This is all I have except there is a Francis Taggart in the Griffiths Valudation in Liscloon Lower. John emigrated to the US in 1868. He married Margaret McKeever in 1871 in NYC. I have been to Ireland but did not have time to go to the PRONI office in Belfast. Any help here is appreciated. This is my brick wall as I can't find anything on Francis/Mary. Thanks

Hi
Church records may be of use to you- Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
