  • I want to thank all of you for helping to conect myself and my sister Alice to our cousin Patrick Dooley still living in Rathgibbon, Killyon, birr.Co Offaly. We were able ti see the home where our grandfather James P Dooley (1876-1933) lived and to see the Eglish/Drumcullen Parish where he would have gone to mass, the Hurling Pitch he played on and the graveyard where his parents and family are commemorated. We were also able to meet with our cousins Teresa, Ann,Mary and Catherine and had a delightful time getting to know a them and descovering what a fun lot they are as well.

We also recieved information from Margeret Hensey an Ireland XO about our grandmother Mary Josephine Murray who was born in Birr and whose parents John Murray and Martha Kilkeary were married in Birr. I can not thank her enough for helping with vital information in our search for our grandmothers beginings.

    Thanks for everything

I have a Mary Dooley in my family line who was married to a William Fleury (Furey). My 3rd great grandmother, Honora Mary Anastasia Fleury, was born in Drumcullen, Kings County about 1802-1806. She married Michael Flynn about 1828 and they had at least five children before Michael died, sometime between 1845 and 1858. Honora followed her older children to America and settled in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. When she died in 1879, her parents were listed as William Flury and Mary Dooley. Wouldn't it be interesting if we were related?

I do not have any information to offer regardingyour Dooley/Flurry family. There are two Dooley families that I an aware of in the Drumcullen/Eglish parish. We maybe cousins but the only Flynn Family I have record of are from the Yonkers NY area. A great uncle Kieran born 1873 died 1918 Spanish flu pandemic ..married there and one of his daughters married a Flynn.
my conection to Eglish /Drumcullen parish is through Kieran Dooley who married Mary Tooher they had 9 children.
I would be happy to share what info I have if you feel it will help with your search
