Hi Remy and hello again Martha!
I just discovered your conversation when I googled Kieran Dooley of Clonkelly.
Remy, I'm afraid I don't have any information about a Kieran who died 1830 - but I am very interested. If you could provide some more information (his children, their spouses, witnesses to the weddings, names of children and their godparents, etc) we, or other volunteers at Ireland XO might be able to help Martha has outlined her own connection with the name Kieran Dooley in this place and I've begun assembling information about that particular name - so far, that includes records in American and Australia, as well as Ireland.
As Martha will remember, I have Dooley ancestry of my own in this parish and recently I've begun work on a Dooley family in Dublin. They all overlap with my own which prompted my interest. These people were the children of Kieran Dooley and Catherine Fleury (in the record books as Fury), they were all baptised in Eglish parish following their marriage in the same place in 1838. I have been unable to find a death record for the Kieran Dooley of Clonkelly who interests me but an 1877 notice of his daughter Maria's marriage indicates that he ("late Kieran Dooley of Clonkelly") was already dead by then.
Martha, in the meantime, the old marker for Kieran Dooley of Clonkelly - was this in the old cemetery in Eglish or in Drumcullen, or was it in Clonoghill?
Best wishes
Tara

Hello Tara,
The grave marker you refer to is in the old Eglish churchyard and was placed by the Dooley grandchildren and has Kieran and Mary (Tooher) mentioned. There is another Dooley grave marker there in Eglish that has Margaret and James and several other names along with the name a priest and two nuns.
If I can figure out how to enclose those photos I will.
There is a Dooley grave marker that is very old and other than the name Kieran Dooley the other information is illegible.
To the best of my knowledge
Kieran Dooley born about 1840 married Mary Tooher 1 Jan 1861 and died 3 Jan 1883.
Mary Tooher born 3 Aug 1843 married Kieran Dooley 1 Jan 1861 and died 30 October 1915
the children and Baptismal dates are
Denis 1863
Edward 1864
James p 1866
John Eugene 1869
Mary 1871
Kieran 1873
Patrick 1876
Thomas Joseph 1878
Elizabeth 1881.
I hope this is of some use to you.
Again I will attempt to upload the photos.

Greetings, I have a 3rd GGM, Honora Mary Anastasia "Annie" Fleury, born in Drumcullen about 1806 to William Fleury/Fury and Mary Dooley. She married Michael Flynn c. 1828 and they had at least five children: Mary Ann b. 1829, John b. 1833, Catherine b. 1837, Margaret b. 1838, & Michael b. 1845. As you can surmise by the birth years listed there were probably other children that didn't survive.
My 2ndGGM, Mary Ann Flynn, emigrated to New York c. 1850. The rest of the family, excepting her father Michael Sr., followed. Honora "Annie" arrived last with Michael Jr. in 1858. The family settled in Stockbridge, Massachusetts except for Mary Ann, who remained in Troy, NY and married James Kelly (1826-1880). I suspect the Kelly's were also connected because James' mother was Margaret Dooley.
I would be interested to explore these connections further and see if we can come up with common ancestors. My email is judyf43@hotmail.com.

Hello Tara!
I hope all is well and covid slipped past you and all of your family with out any illnesses.
The fact that Denis is the first born child of Mary Tooher and Kieran Dooley drove me mad. I finally found in ROOTS IRELAND a Denis Dooley (1790) who marries 1n 1831 Elen Murry (1800) of Kilcormac Offaly.
They then had Mary Born 1832, Kieran Born 1833, Bridget Born 1836, Denis Born 1838, Rody born 1841, Patrick Born 1848.
Along with theser finds in ROOTS the Sponsor were frequently Fury or Furey.
I hope I am going down the right trail the Kieran and Denis and Patrick line up with the ages and births I found under Kieran Dooley and Mary Tooher .... so who knows unless we can find some 200 year old with a sharp mind...my guess is as good as it gets. I should have a degree in research by now.
Hope to heaar from you again

Hey Martha
Great to hear from you, we're hanging in there, hope you are too. The Dooley/Fleury(Fury) families certainly seem to be entangled. I'm satisfied at this point that the Kieran Dooley who married Catherine Fleury is the cousin of my Great-great-grandfather Patrick Dooley (Kieran named as a cousin in a newspaper article c. 1850s). I've traced most/all of Kieran and Catherine's children who moved to Dublin (and their descendants) and two sons of my Patrick (Thomas and Patrick) are buried alongside them in Glasnevin and they appear in the baptismal and marriage records of each other in Dublin. When Kieran Dooley married Catherine Fleury in 1938, their marriage was witnessed by Keiran Dooley and Mary Dooley.
If you've done a DNA kit (especially if it's with ancestry) you should consider joining https://www.facebook.com/groups/180174358716871 DNA project. Some of my Dooley cousins are members and I'd be really interested to see if you have matches with them! You should also join the Offaly DNA and genealogy group https://www.facebook.com/groups/437202206892945
Best wishes,
Tara
