Migrated to/Born in USA
Mary Egan was born on 03 April 1891 in Creggan, north of Ferbane in County Offaly to John Egan and Maria Farrell (of Endrim.) She emigrated to Manhattan, New York to live with her uncle James Farrell about 1909. She later married John Tierney in New York, the son of Irish immigrants himself. He had 3 children from his first marriage. (His first wife died in the 1918 Spanish influenza epidemic, and a child died of diptheria a few months before her.) She and family moved with Uncle James to a house he bought circa 1920 in Jamaica, Queens, New York. She had a daughter Elizabeth (Jennings) who was born in Ireland in 1908, and a son Michael Tierney who was born in 1927 in Jamaica, NY. She lived with Michael and family in Elmont, New York before she died in 1973. Michael had 2 daughters and 2 sons, and I am the youngest (John).
