Parents James Murphy and Elizabeth Murphy (nee Murphy)-Innkeepers of the Glengall Arms Hotel Cahir. One brother and 7 sisters. Margaret Ann Murphy and four of her sisters arrived Sydney, Australia as bounty emigrants in January 1841. Margaret partnered with Paul Walker, ticket-of-leave convict from Spalding, Lincolnshire, and they had one child, Jane Mary Walker in 1843 at Patricks Plains (Maitland). By 1854 they were at the Namoi River in north-west New South Wales. Paul Walker died 1861 at their beautiful property called 'The Vale of Sighs' near current day Boggabri. Their daughter Jane married Sydney Powell later that same year and they lived with Margaret at the Vale of Sighs for some years. Around 1880 they moved to a property called 'Drildool' near Burren Junction, NSW. Jane and Sydney had 10 children, one of whom, Leopold, was my grandfather.                                                                                                                                                                                  

Margaret Murphy's sisters who came with her to Australiain 1841 were Catherine, Dorcas, Joanna and Jane. Jane married John Hugh Webb in 1841; Catherine married William Shepherd in 1845 in Sydney; Joanna  married Philip Murphy in 1845 in Parramatta; Dorcas married Richard Daulton at St Marys Church, Sydney in 1851.
