Anne REID was the daughter of James REID and Mary SHANAHAN. She was baptised in the catholic church in Eglish, County Offaly, in 1832. By 1860, she is married and living in Yonkers, NY.
She married a Hugh WALSH, who was born somewhere in Ireland, but currently unknown. His parents were James WALSH and Catherine Hoag. Not known if they married in Ireland or in the NYC area. Town records and church records, at that time, were sketchy or non-existent. By the time of the 1870 census, 5 of their 6 children have been born and one has died. Their children were: Thomas, Mary, Hugh Jr, James, Anne and Frances. They all remained in Yonkers with the exception of son, James, who married and moved to Long Island.
Son Thomas died young. Daughter Mary married William McGahran. Son Hugh married Margaret Ryan. Son James married Clara DeLagg. Anne married Frank Smith, formerly Schmiedel. Frances never married.
Hugh worked as a gardener. Anne and Hugh both died in 1914. Have not found any death notices or obituaries. The photo that I have attached is of Hugh and Anne.
