He was educated in Cootehill, and was apprenticed to a baker. He immigrated to New Orleans circa 1853, and lived the remainder of his life there. I am still trying to pinpoint where in County Cavan his origins are.
He died trying to escape the fire that desroyed the St. Charles Hotel in New Orleans in 1894.
