I am a grandaughter of George Campbell, therefore Margaret's great niece and would love to touch base with you to share and compare family history.
Audrey Campbell-Frear
Margaret CAMPBELL was the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth CAMPBELL (nee HASLETT), born 1859 most likely in Gartan, Donegal.
Her parents were connected with the ADAIR Derryveagh clearance, featuring in newspaper reports of the Derryveagh murder case.
Patrick and Elizabeth's 1853 marriage can be found in the St Eunan's marriage register. They were both residents of Glenswilly.
They had the following children before migrating to NZ in 1866, Rose Anne b. 1854, John b. 1857, Margaret b. 1859, George b. 1863, and the twins Patrick and Elizabeth b. 1864 in Lifford Castlefinn. Only John, Margaret and George came to NZ with the parents.
To date I have not been able to find out the death dates for the other children or any details for the parents of Patrick and Elizabeth (snr). Margaret married George GATES in 1879 R O Mangonui. She died 1937 Totara North. Margaret and George had ten children. I would love to make contact with other family from the CAMPBELL and HASLETT families.
