Michael Henchy was my great grandfather. I have a copy of his baptismal certificate. He was baptized at the R.C. Parish of Drumcliffe on April 16, 1856.
His father was Pat Henchy and his mother was Margaret Ringrose. Sponsors were Owen McGuire and Margaret Tobin. The officiating clergyman was Rev. J. Kenny. I believe he was born in Killaloe, Clare.
He emigrated between the years of 1884 to 1887. He might have emigrated with his friend James Lovett. I think he left behind siblings, some of whom stayed in Ireland and others who also left. He married my great grandmother, Bridget, after she was widowed. She was first married to James Lovett and they had five daughters. Then James and Bridget married, they had my grandmother Nora in 1899.
Michael lived a good long life. My mother and aunt had loving memories of him and Bridget. One of the few pictures I have, I have posted here. He is older here. I don't have any where he is young. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY USA with Bridget. I honor him here.
