Edward Joseph Murray was born on July 31, 1881, in Sheepwalk, County Roscommon, Ireland, his father, John, was 38 and his mother, Catherine Tansey was 36. He was baptized in the Parish of Ballingare with his twin sister Catherine on August 7, 1881.  

He married Sarah M Lenahan also of County Roscommon on June 6, 1909, in Brooklyn, New York. They had seven children in 21 years. He died on April 22, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 77, and was buried in Middle Village, New York.

Edward Murray came to the US in 1906. The only Ellis Island record that matches him is for a voyage on the S.S Oceanic which arrived in New York  on 18 May 1906.
