Reason for Discharge: Loss of vision in both eyes,contracted while in service.
Conduct & Character on discharge : Had been of good and efficient soldier, seldom in hospital,trustworthy and sober.

The principal medical officer at Chatham Jan 6th 1837 states that he had treatment for 46 days in the General Hospital and is determined that he is unift for further service and is likely to be incapacitated in his eyesight. He became a Chelsea Pensioner and recieved a pension of 6d per day. 

In 1848 Andrew Scallan and his wife Margaret Mclarnon (nee Brown) sailed from Northern Ireland to New Zealand. Andrew came to New Zealand as  fencible. He died in 1853 .
