Back to List

Peter O'Neill born in Ireland and baptised in Clonallon, County Down on 27 April 1860 was a son of John O'Neill and Bridget Quinn.  Peter married Mary Alexander on 25 December 1879 in St. George's Church, Southwark, London.  They had four sons:  John born January 1880; Peter born September 1884; Joseph born January 1887; and Patrick born March 1889.

Peter Sr. died in 1890 aged 30 of chronic heart disease.  Mary and their 4 sons were listed in the 1891 UK Census.  In the 1901 UK Census, both Joseph and Patrick were residing at the St. Joseph and St. Anne Orphanage in Farnborough, Orpington, Kent.  Peter, Joseph and Patrick eventually went to Canada where Peter married in 1909.

There is no further information known about their mother, Mary, but she may have died before 1901.

Comments

  • Thank you for this additional information.  I strongly feel this Peter O'Neill is my g grandfather, but how do I prove that this Peter born on 2 Apr. 1860  to John O'Neill and Bridget Quinn is the same Peter O'Neill (born in Ireland, father's name also John) who married Mary Alexander on 25 Dec 1879  at St. George's Catholic Church, St. Savior, Southwark, Co. Surrey, England?  I could really use some suggestions.
