Catherine was born in 1820 originally from County Kildare according to the Convict Transcriptions. In 1839 she stole from her employer in Dublin and was transported to Australia for 7 years. She married William Reed and had 13 children all born in New South Wales. On some of these certificates it says she was born in Dublin, but mostly just Ireland. After the birth of the 13th child in 1864 she 'changed' her name to Sarah (nee Kennedy) Reed. When she died she wrote her parents names as "John Kennedy - Gentleman" and mother Mary McDonald. John Kennedy is likely ficticious in keeping with her change of name but unable to determine if she would have foresaken her Mother's identify. I doubt her parents were gentry.
