There are no death records from Carlow on roots; no luck with the Nat Library R C registers either.

May be of interest re your query on mining in the area - from the entry for Killeshin civil parish in Lewis' Topographical Dictionary of 1837 : "..Sandstone and limestone are found here, and extensive collieries are worked by H. Fitzmaurice, Esq. There were formerly smelting-furnaces, which were discontinued for want of fuel...".
