  • Michael was my grandfather, my Dad was Wllfrid Hopkins, born 1926, died 1991. My grandfather is a bit of a mystery, we know he died when my Dad was about 3 or 4 so maybe 1930. He used, according to Auntie Kathleen to suffer from severe headaches which may be as a result of being chlorine gassed, or could be genetic as I've had the same problem in the past.

There was severe poverty in the past and a reluctance to talk about it. My father, Wilf had rickets as a child and was a bit bow legged or "Couldn't stop a Pig in a ginnel"

We think that Michael was born in New Ross

Aunty's Kathleen died 30 years ago

Uncle Jack served in the Royal Navy, I'm still in contact with his sons and grandchildren. He died about 25 years ago

Uncle Raymond worked in the Department of Defence in a senior civil service position he died about 20 years ago, He married a northern Irish girl, Eileen, their son Marcus lives in Ireland.

Aunty Ivy was a GI bride, we met her twice when she came back in the 70s she lived in Portland, Maine and had two sons

Looking for more info on Michael's roots.
