Mary's parents were Maurice Moriarty and Margaret Cahalane.
Mary travelled to Australia on the Orphan Ship, "Thomas Arbuthnot" in 1849, when she was 16 years old.
Her sister Catherine also went with her. They both settled in Queensland, Australia

My great grandfather, George Evans came to Queensland in 1872. His mother was Mary Moriarty from Lispole and married Thomas Evans of Minard East. Could there be a family connection to your Moriarty.? I would love to hear from you. I am in Toowoomba.

Hi, they could possibly be related but it is so hard to find info from Ireland around that time. My Mary was from Dingle and there appears to be lot of Moriarty families from that area. They were probably mostly related, so there's a good chance we could be related. Mary's sister Catherine married Thomas Elliott (convict from England) and they lived in the Ipswich area. My Mary married Samuel Brassington (convict from England) and they lived in Augathella. My parents are still in Augathella. I went to boarding school in Toowoomba.
Would be interesting to see if we can find out if we are related.
