Eliza Sharkey and FamilyEliza Sharkey was born c1833 in Co Tyrone. In 1850 she arrived in Port Phillip, Victoria on the "Diadem" as part of the Earl Grey Scheme. She was a 17 year old house servant from Omagh in County Tyrone. In 1851 Eliza married John Charles Middleton in Melbourne, Victoria. In 1851 Eliza married James Martin Watts in Geelong, Victoria. In 1855 Eliza married William Garment in Hobart, Tasmania. Eliza and William Garment moved to NSW to the Central West district. She died in Bathurst NSW in 1916.

Eliza had one child, a daughter Ann Elizabeth, to James Martin Watts and nine children to William Garment. 

She was my great great grandmother. Eliza is listed on the commemorative wall at Hyde Park Barracks.
