James was born in March of 1817 in County Cork and baptised on April 5 in Bandon.
He moved to London to study medicine in the early 1840's and graduated around 1845.M.R.C.S.E. Medical School in England. Passed his exams in 1845. wrote more exams to practice when moving back to London received his certificates at Apothecaries Hall in London in July of 1865
He became a ship's doctor after graduation and eventually setteled in Melbourne Australia where he practiced for a few years before coming back to England where he met and married Lucy Frankland on their wedding certificate it states that his father Garrett Byrne was a gentleman https://www.ancestry.ca/mediaui-viewer/tree/29703891/person/58000045100…
Lucy and James moved back to Australia where they had the first two of their four children, soon after their second child was born they moved back to England in 1865 where James worked as a Surgeon in Little Ilford, London
He passed 2years after his son's birth on Feb 2 1869 at the age of 52
