Andrew Belton was born 28 Mar 1847 in the townland of Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. His parents were Andrew Belton and Sarah Gregory. His siblings included Anne, Sarah and Mary. His father was a tin plate worker, a trade he passed on to his son.
On 29 June 1872, Andrew was arrested by Constable Sherwood of Rathrum for fighting with James Kavanagh at the fair green in Rathdrum. When the constable reached the location, Kavangh was partly stripped and Andrew being dragged away by onlookers. Both men were given the option of a fine of 5s or a weeks imprisonment.
Andrew married Anne Caulfield of Ballyhad Lower on 14 Jan 1875, witnessed by Frances Caulfield and Michael Wedrick(?)

He witnessed the wedding of his sister Margaret in 1868, brother in law Thomas in July of 1875, of neighbours Ellen Behan in August 1875 and Edward Fallon in November 1880.
His mother Sarah died in 1873. His father Andrew later came to live with his sons family.
In November 1881, he godparented along with Catherine Kenny for Thomas Maxwell, the son of his relative Brigid Farrell.
His father died on 19 Mar 1888 of Bronchitis. His daughter Sarah(b. 1875) died the next year on 26 Oct 1889 after suffering from typhoid fever for eight weeks.
Andrew died on the tenth of April 1893, in the presence of his son Andrew.
