John Kelly's parents were John Kelly and Ann Lamb. They were married at St. Michael's church in Dun Laoghaire on August 12th 1831. Their witnesses were Michael Kelly and Jane Kelly.
They had three children while liveng in Dunleary: Edward, born Nov. 16 1831, sponsors John Coonan and Margret Kelly, Anne Jane, born March 6, 1837, sponsors Patt Lamb and Julia Delany, and Michael, born May 31, 1839.
Sometime in the fall of 1841 they left Dunleary for Liverpool and sailed aboard the ship Birmingham arriving in New York City on oct. 20, 1841. When they arrived they disembarked with another member of the family, John Kelly, born aboard ship on Sept. 16, 1842.
John was my great grandfather. He went on to become a New York City policeman and rose to lieutenant in command of Police boat #1.
He married Bridget Vaughey of Verplanck New York in 1868 and went on to have seven children one of whom was my grandmother Anna Kelly. John died in Verplanck in 1914.
