Anne Callan was born abt 1823 in Co. Donegal, probably in Stranorlar. Her parents were Barnard and Margaret Callan. She married James Patton from Raphoe in abt 1840 in Co, Donegal. They had four children, all born in Co. Donegal - James (b. abt 1844, died before 1852), Michael (b. 1844), John (b. 1846) and Catherine (b. 1848).
The family emigrated to Australia on board the "Kate", arriving on 16 October 1852. Anne's sister Sarah was already in the colony and they settled near her in Victoria.
