Am seeking information about the family of the above. I know that according to Military documents he was born c1802 in Magherafeld and was a weaver. In 1820 he enlisted in Armagh into the 50th Regimentof foot. He was married in 1829 in Chorley Manchester to Ann Shaw having seen service in the West Indies. In 1834 he was part of a detail on Convict ship to New South Wales where he stayed with the regiment. In 1841 he was discharged due to poor healt and was given a grant of land in Braidwood NSW. I believe he must have sold this or given it up as he returns to Sydney where he has the remainder of his family. He was variously a Police constable and a labourer in a flour mill and died of a sudden heart attack  1860 which was reported in the press.

Joseph Chambers is my husband's 3X gret grandfather.
