There was a book compiled about Peter Gallagher and his descendants in New Brunswick, Canada. There are a few copies of the book owned by various descendants myself included. The author stated that Peter was baptized at Mass Rock in Dromore. We visited Dromore, county Tyrone in 2013 and found the Mass Rock. It is off Tummery Road. I believe Mass is still held there occassionaly.

In that case contact the publishers. An author of history should cite references for the content in the book, for which research was undertaken.

My gr gr grandfather James McGrath from Dromore was sent to Australia as a convict with Felix Gallagher for life and Francis Gallagher for seven years for manslaughter in 1827. I'm told by a Dromore local that the Gallagher family came from Tummery Road. I wonder if this is the same family.

Beth, Doyou think it might be possible for me to contact the local Dromore person? Email? When we visited Dromore we saw an old graveyard and it had a grave for Thomas Gallagher but don't know anymore about him. If we had some names maybe we could investigate further.
