I found my great uncle in the Ireland Census of 1911.  From the 1911 census I have documented the following:

District Electoral Division:Shinrone
Townland: Magherareagh
Barony: Clonlisk
Parish: Kilmurryely

house # 5  Thomas Leahy

I would like to find the location of his home.  Are  historical property deeds public records in Ireland?  How can I acquire?

I am traveling to Ireland in May 2019 and would love to visit the property.  I believe my family lived on the same property for several generations.  My great grandfather immigrated to the united states around 1870.

  • Hi,
If you look back at the Census, where you see the first result, look down to where it says "House and Building Return" (Form B1) (3rd Choice down)
Open it and it lists the house numbers, you will see they were next to a Shop.

  • Dear H Leahy

I am a volunteer in an neighbouring parish and would like to be of assisance.  I have been in touch with a person who lives in that townland and we are trying to locate the ruins of the Leahy family residence.  I should have more information in the next 2 weeks.  If I am available when you visit in May I would be happy to show you where this townland is.   If interested please email further information to me at kilcolmanoffaly@irelandxo.com

    Regards
