This is so exciting! Apparently, they also lived in Gortnalgulion. If anyone has any additional info. About Farrell and Mary’s parents, siblings, residences or other relatives, I am planning a trip to Ireland at some point and would love to connect with other family! :)

Hi Rhonda, I found this thread by accident. I'm a descendant of John Ward of Drumbrannid. I'm not sure if this family is related to the Farrell Ward family but I'm sure they were related at some stage. Regards, Conor Ward

Dear Conor,
I believe Farrell’s parents were:
John Ward: ( guessing he was born abt 1805? In Drumbranned?)
Jane (Jeanne) Mahon: (Guessing she was born abt 1815?)
My sources are the Irish census 1841-1851 and also parish registers.
I think they both may have died in Rantoge Glebe in Kiltubbrid Parish...
Thank you for reaching out to me! I hope we are able to sleuth out a definitive family connection! It would be good to find cousins!

Dear Rhonda,
I checked my records again and I can actually only trace my family back to Patrick Ward (born c1815) of Drumbranned. Patrick is not listed in the land records in the 1800s for that townland. It's possible that he was a brother of John Ward. We'll probably never know!
Regards
Conor

Dear Conor,
Well, I will keep researching and hopefully, at some point, records will be found and connections firmed up for all of us. Given that our ancestors are from the same location, it is likely that we are related. My family members related to the Wards have all taken DNA tests. If you have as well, then we will likely match up as the process grows more advanced. In the meantime, we are enjoying exploring our Irish roots and we are in the process of claiming our heritage as Irish Citizens.
Gratefully,
Rhonda and Some other descendants of the Drumbranned Wards

Rhona, that's very interesting. Who did you do the DNA test with? I might do it myself and see what is revealed. Can I view the family tree that exists so far from this DNA exercise? Regards, Conor

Conor,
Try something like Ancestry DNA. They also have message boards as well as DNA links. I have found cousins through the other branches of my tree there, but almost 100% of my results past my grandparents have come from THIS WEBSITE “irelandxo.com” really. This website is extraordinary and such a gift to many of us who are wanting to reconnect with our Irish roots.
The more of us who connect on here, the more we will learn. Good luck and best wishes.
Rhonda
