Mother : Mary O’Shea. Father last name Ryan. Raised by / fostered by grandparents John O’Shea and Annie O’Connell.
First seen in 1901 census, Greenane, Cork, Ireland. Listed as Mary Ryan - foster child. Then in the 1911 census - as Mary Ryan - boarder.
Worked in some type of nursing capacity in what she called ‘ the big house’ before having to flee from there as the IRA burnt down ‘the big house’.
She left for England around 1922 and went to St. Andrews hospital, London to continue her nursing studies. Married Robert finch in 1931. Listed as Mary O’Connell otherwise o’shea on certificate.
Had 2 children with him, became a midwife later on and eventually split up with her husband.
Died 1984 in Billericay hospital of Pneumonia.
Grandmother: Annie O’Connell b. ca. 1837 to parents Timothy O’Connell and Julia / Johanna lane.
