Back to List

I am from Australia and am hoping someone can assist me with a letter we have found in my deceased Mother In Law's family treasures. (I have attached the letter in a pdf format and pasted below). We cannot find any connection to the Hetherington surname or find any relationship to the surname. We feel a relationship must exist for my Mother In Law to have had it in amongst her treasures.

  • Hi, I'm also an Aussie with a lot of Hetheringtons who immigrated from Tyrone/Fermanagh during the late 1830's to early 1840's. They went to Kiama, NSW and other areas in Oz from that point. The family also included Greys/Grays, Greylus, Hamiltons, Stewarts, Walmsleys, Irvines

Regarding the letter, could you please tell me where your mother-in-law was from? Was it Australia? I can help with surnames etc that could be relevant - there are a lot of them.

Thank you for sharing the letter, a precious keepsake,

    Tracey,

    NSW Australia
