I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Adam McDonald. About all I know is that he was born, according to his obituary notice in the Placer (CA) Herald newspaper from May 1900 is that he was from County Dublin and born in 1836. I have no idea who his parents were, except that his mother's first name was Mary; she came to the U.S. with him in 1854.
How do I find out what parish he was from or his father's first name? I am assuming he was Catholic..re the obit.
