He married Catherine ( Kate ) A. Linehan in Canandaigua, where they had 9 children. Kate was born in County Cork to Dennis Linehan (1815-1888)and Johanna Donovan(1842-1916). Dennis died in Canandaigua, NY. Kate died in Watertown, NY but both are buried in Canandaigua.
John Long had siblings: Mary (1834-1907), Nora(1842-1923), Maurice(1847-1906) and Dennis(1850-1899). All lived in Canandaigua,NY in approximately 1860.
