Looking for any kind of records or documents related to my 3rd Great Grandparents, who were both allegedly from Stewartstown, County Tyrone.
Carolyn (Caroline) Hobbs (possibly Hobson)
b. Stewartstown, IRE circa 1843
d. Swarthmore College, PA, April 16, 1874, presumably in childbirth of her third child, perhaps Phebe Ferris
Immigration to Philadelphia, PA: 9/24/1863, aboard the ship Stadacona: passenger manifest.
There was a letter from the minister of her church (unknown religion) in Stewartstown recommending her for servant jobs upon her arrival in the US, but that letter has since been lost.
Married a Robert Ferris
b. 1838, allegedly in Stewartstown, IRE
Immigration: 1860 aboard the ship Zered, with his brother, James
Also had a well-documented sister named Margaret/Margaretta Ferris who married a Thomas in the US.
Was a Union soldier in the Civil War; lost a leg
Post-war profession: possibly a bartender, and then definitely a baker.
Unknown death, possibly 1904
They had two children for sure:
Louisa Jane Ferris b 1870, PA, d. 1960 (plenty of documentation)
Richard Downing Ferris, b 1871 PA, d 1925, VA (plenty of documentation)
Possibly a Phebe b. 1874? Can't find records
I have gone through every possible record on ancestry, family search, fold3, newspapers.com, rootsireland, findmypast, irishgenealogy.ie, and even scotlandspeople.com.
I have looked at Griffiths. I have searched everywhere and cannot find a single shred of evidence for Caroline beyond that passenger manifest. I have contacted Pennsylvania and Delaware and they both told me that they don’t have death records from this era.
