James (1871-1948) was the youngest child born to John Morrissey and Johanna Sullivan. His older siblings were John Joseph (b. 1860);Mary Margaret (1862-1931); Patrick (1865-1931); Johanna (1868-1920) The family lived in Anhid. Johanna died in 1896. By that time, all of the children except for James had emigrated to New York. James emigrated in 1900 following his father's death. In 1904 he married Mary O'Rourke who grew up in Croom and had emigrated to NY in the mid-1890s. No information is known about John Morrissey's parents or siblings. His death certificate, completed by James, said John was 93 yrs old, making him born about 1806. He married Johanna in 1859 and was much older than her. It is believe her parents were William Sullivan and Mary O'Donnell and that she was born in 1837.
