My great grandfather Michael "Mulcairn" is at the "end" of my tree as he entered the British Navy out of the orphanage in Clifden, Galway. There was no further information about his background, parents, although based on his projected age in the death record he was born around 1855. Given he left the orphanage at a young age for the Navy, I suspect the English may have changed the spelling of his name. Based on DNA matches, I suspect his name was actually Mulkerrin.
In the certificate of his marriage to Hannah Pinckney May 1, 1881, his father is listed as John Mucairn whose occupation was a farmer.
