James Castles emigrated to the USA. We have not found many records to verify our family notes. I will include what I have. There is a slight variation on which day he was born, but month and year line up. Born 31 March 1827. I am open to other dates, as we have not found a formal birth record.
James Castles married Mary Fea (in some records as Fay) 15 Aug 1849 Loughgall, Armagh, Ireland. Witnesses: James Fay, John Hyde. I found the marriage record.
James died in Fairfield, Connecticut, USA on 14 April 1896
These are family notes, so need verification ... they were word of mouth ... they may have filled in the gaps with imagination ... not sure if there was really a TWIN or just a brother ... things like that... stories that got passed down through several generations to me ...
James' Children:
John Cassell 1847 -1900. Son died at sea (no note on which son or route of travel). Joseph Cassell 1857-1890. Annie Cassell 1858-1939. James Cassell, Jr. 1862-1890. Isabelle Cassell 1864-1933. Helen or Ellen Cassell. Jane Cassell. Helen said her grandpa spelled his name Castle. His twin brother settled in Ohio and spelled his name Cassell, so the members of her family also spelled it Cassell. But when Helen’s mother erected the tombstone, she had it read Castle. (Sorry for the lack of clarity. This is how the notes were passed to the current generation).
Descendants have done DNA testing.
