My 3rd great-grandfather William also immigrated from Ireland to US and may have landed in Newfoundland. The family always said they were from WAterford but on his tombstone, William, insisted that he was from Kerry. There is a William who married nearby to a Marcella. IT could be the same family.

I am tracing my ancestry and have found some recoreds of a 3rd great grandfather, Patrick Foley who was born in Waterford on June 14, 1813, baptized in St. James and Templetown to a Patrick Foley and Sarah Murphy the following day. They emmigrated to Brigus, Newfoundland, Canada in 1823 when young Patrick was 11. I cannot seem to find anymore info on them and an hoping someone here can verify this info for me and possibly add to it. Thanks in advance.
