Hugh Hogan served in the Royal Newfoundland Company from 1818-1837. His pensioners paperwork says he was born about 1800 in the parish of Ballining in or near town of Athi (or Athe) in Queens county. I haven't been able to find a record of his birth. Any advice appreciated!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate a Hugh Hogan baptismal record around 1800 in Co. Laois. The earliest record was in 1835. Likely he was baptized kin a parish that does not have records back to 1800. I do note that the RC parish of Athy has a gap in baptismal records from April 1797 to September 1803. Perhaps Hugh was baptized in that gap period.

Hi Susan (siouxcq)
I may have the Hugh Hogan that you are looking for in my records. As per Roger’s response, he located a Hugh Hogan born in Ireland in 1835 which matches my record from South Australia.
A Hugh Hogan born 1835 emigrated to South Australia on the Ship 'Adamant' in 1863 when aged 28. He worked as station hand on remote stations Moralina Station and Myrtle Springs Station, near Leigh Creek. He died in 1863 aged 62 in Leigh Creek, South Australia. Hugh did not marry.
I trust this information assists.
