Isaac Curtis was born 23/01/1811 in Sulfork England,Died 01/03/1867 Fermoy Cork.

He enlisted as a "boy" soldier in Harwich on 24th January 1826 for an unspecified term of service. By 1838, Isaac had risen through the ranks to Sergeant. He served for nearly 5 years in America.

Isaac was discharged as medically unfit because of rheumatism on 6th March 1850 at Chatham barracks. He received an army pension and continued to live in Fermoy, County Cork, where he worked as a shopkeeper.

I believe his wife was Mary Anne born 1834, died 1888 Fermoy, Cork. They had one daughter Elizabeth Charlotte Curtis born 1851 Fermoy, Cork and died 08/07/1885. She married Robert Charles Crosse in 1868 he was born 1839 in Kings Count Offaly died in Clondulane, Cork. I believe the Crosse family were a family of flour millers.

This was quite a surprise for me to find this post. Elizabeth Curtis Crosse is my 3x great-grandmother and Issac is my 4x great-grandfather. I’m a Crosse and yes, they were flour millers! Are you related to Issac? I’m curious if we are distant cousins.
