Margaret Nugent married John L Francis McGrath 19 February 1854 in Tallow Co. Waterford. They had six children Mary 1854 (who most likely died young), Alice 1856, Bridget 1858, Mary 1861, Ellen 1863, Julia 1865.
John McGrath was a Lime Burner & the family lived in Ballinanchor in Tallow province & later in Cappoquin.
Margaret’s husband died on 18 May, 1905 at Barrack Street, Cappoquin & Margaret died five years later on 13 June 1910 at Barrack Street Cappoquin.
Margaret’s daughter Mary (but always known as Margaret or Maggie) emigrated to Australia in 1881 & the photo of her mother Margaret McGrath shown here was taken at a studio in Waterford & sent out to Australia. It is still in its original frame & is with Margaret’s Great-great-grand daughter Marie Stewart née Bourke.
